Not a big drama as you can always open and work on the online file (or choose you local file) through File>open. It will automatically update to the online OneDrive after each manual save and reflect the file history. If opening a local Mac OneDrive file you need to save the file periodically as we all did before OneDrive came on the scene. Autosave only works when you open the file through your online OneDrive and not through the local OneDrive file saved to your Mac.
